A quiet place by day where bird life rules, and at night the streets and fields come alive with large numbers of Wallabies throughout the town. In season, everywhere is green and lush with tall grasses and vivid in rich colours of a great variety of the islands delicate wild orchids and flowers. Sheltered from the powerful storms that can roll in from the Great Southern Ocean, the areas bays deserted beaches and foreshore trails offer year round fishing and walking opportunities in the peace and quiet of one of the islands most beautiful locations.

American River also offers fishing cruises, boat launching and scenic tours. It is the ideal base from which to explore our beautiful island, and perfect for those seeking peace and tranquillity at Ulonga's wonderful location.

Local and knowledgeable guides, offering a broad range of high quality day and night time tours, can pick you up at your door to show you the extraordinary natural beauty of the Island. Or, if you wish, you can just take one of our folding chairs down to the nearby jetty or, the most beautiful Pennington Bay, and catch fish with the locals.
